Brant Studio Tour Information for Applicants
Studio Tour Applicant Criteria:
To be considered as a BST artist, an applicant must:
• be a practicing artist
• create original fine art or high craft
• have a current body of independently produced, cohesive and distinctive work.
• have a working studio within Brant County
Studio Tour Application Procedure:
Please submit:
• a current CV
• an artist's statement discussing medium and methods, processes, and intention (i.e. What are you hoping to accomplish with your work? What is your creative process? What do you do? How do you do it? Why?)
• 10 images (72dpi) of current work.
Send Submissions via CD or email to Kim DiFrancesco, 15 Maple Ave, Brantford, ON, N3T 4B4, or kdifrancesco@rogers.com by March 31, 2012.
BST Decision Making Procedure:
• BST members review application package
• BST members vote on suitability of applicant with reference to BST standards and specifications.
• Applicants gaining approval from 80% of the BST voters, will be contacted to arrange a studio visit and interview
• Successful applicants will be invited to join that year's Tour
The successful applicant's studio must:
• be accessible to vehicles and parking
• be a working studio in which the artist will display works in progress and/or conduct demonstrations
• be accessible throughout the year, either as an open studio, or by appointment
• display only art from the BST artist
• display original art only, no copies or reproductions
All artists accepted for the BST must:
• pay a fee to cover advertising, printing, signage and web-hosting
• provide proof of liability insurance of at least $1,000,000
• attend scheduled meetings
• assume a designated share of the responsibilities associated with operating a successful studio tour
A Note about Reproductions on Paper or Canvas:
Since the Brant Studio Tour mandate focuses on educating the public about original fine art and the processes involved in creating it, BST artists are required to show only one of a kind works during the tour.
Therefore, if you do make giclees, reproductions or copies of your original art work on paper or on canvas, please refrain from promoting or showing these during the Tour.
