I have a huge reference library and an eclectic collection of things. I take a lot of pictures and keep scrapbooks. All these things percolate inside my head and go into paintings either consciously or unconsciously. I love to draw but these drawings always remain in my personal collection. I try to be unique in my style. I have to be in a certain frame of mind and the images appear effortlessly. After many years of painting it is still engaging to watch the image evolve.
Originally from Hamilton and Oakville I have lived in Stratford since the seventies. I just relocated to Paris in 2010. I have always had this need to create and I studied art for several years. Much of what I received in formal education was a long time ago. I studied creative art at Sheridan College and basically taught myself to paint portraits.
Art to me is self-discovery. As I care for my chronically ill daugther I work at the art according to a haphazard schedule. I have painted all night to follow an inspiration. I will take a gamble. I work in oils when they are wet and I let the inspiration take hold to keep it spontaneous. Before I had my own studio I often worked in a rented space in complete solitude all night when time had no meaning. I have gone on photo sessions a 4am and have gotten some amazing pictures.
Over the years, i have displayed my work in galleries, and commercial establishments and have done several commissions. I always like to talk to people to see if they understand the concepts that evolved into my art.
