Ralph Heather

Ralph Heather is a visual artist and original printmaker living in Paris, Ontario.

All of my prints are originals and are often hand-cut wood blocks that are limited editions, hand-pulled in my home studio. As a visual artist I am passionate about the creative process and the process of creating, finding visual cues and discovering the best medium to express them. Enjoying the mechanical possibilities and challenges of hand pulled original printmaking, the tactile feeling of wood and ink, the flow of painting and drawing, and the excitement of watching my ideas come to life.

I am captivated by the simple beauty of shape and colour that surrounds us in our everyday lives, finding inspiration in common subjects we have strong emotional ties to. Currently my themes are inspired by the return of a thriving natural habit to our everyday gardens that have resulted from eco-friendly initiatives with pesticides.

I have the pleasure of showing my work in a variety of galleries throughout southern Ontario. Of special note “German Angoras” was part of the 2011 Ontario traveling print show for Year of the Rabbit, “Hummingbird and Canada Lily” was chosen for display at the Royal Botanical Gardens 2011 National Lily Show, and locally I always have a piece at Brantford’s “Stir It Up” Gallery.
