Because I have always been in love with the arts, I have had a steady compass for decision making about where and how to live, what to investigate and study, how to make a living and a life. My decades-long creative career in arts education was rewarding indeed, but I am happy at last to give my own art my complete focus.
I love to draw and paint and manipulate materials. Intuition guides my hand as I develop suites of abstract and figurative work on canvas or paper and I delight in what emerges as chance suggests new directions and unexpected juxtapositions occur.
Like life, my art is often layered, incorporating collaged and drawn elements selected from bulging files of personal drawings, notes to myself and clipped-out tidbits of text and imagery.
Described as complex, intriguing, powerful and engaging, my work has found its way into numerous collections. I exhibit often, taking pleasure in the knowledge that others respond to what I do, and I can wish for nothing better than to keep creating as long as I am living.
